Author Bio

Alex Fernandez-Ortega is currently a fourth year doctoral student in the at the University of Denver Graduate School of Professional Psychology, and a work-study for the Latinx Psychology Specialty. She was raised in Fresno, California and obtained her undergraduate degree in psychology at the University of California, San Diego. Alex is the DU Graduate Student Government Director of Diversity and Inclusive Excellence and is passionate about social justice in her clinical work. She has a background in social work, forensic settings and community mental health. Her current interests include working with marginalized and migrant communities in family therapy and integrated care settings. Alex has been able to use her training within the Latinx Psychology Specialty to provide bilingual psychotherapy services to children and families within the Aurora and Denver communities.
