Jill D. Paquin, PhD is a licensed psychologist and Professor of Counseling Psychology at Chatham University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Before becoming a psychologist, Dr. Paquin worked in public policy and for reproductive rights in Washington DC. As a clinician, scholar, teacher, and mentor she strives to bring the same dedication to feminism and social justice to her work as a psychologist. Her research examines small group processes that impact the effectiveness of group therapy, with a special focus on group practice with women and others marginalized by systems of oppression. Dr. Paquin also studies the identity and career experiences of psychotherapists during training and throughout one's career, and the career experiences of diverse women working in STEM careers. Dr. Paquin was first elected to Fellow status of APA for her work in group psychology in 2019 and was the first woman Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Group Psychotherapy (2018 - 2023). She is the author of two book chapters on best practices in group therapy research, a book on clinician-researchers, and has numerous peer-reviewed publications. She has served in a number of leadership roles including as past Chair for APA Division 17’s Section for the Promotion for Psychotherapy Science and current Domain Representative for Group Psychotherapy for APA Division 49.
