Navigating Economic Reality in Early Careerhood
We are very excited to announce a FREE webinar for students and early career psychologists about navigating the economic reality during early careerhood. This event is organized by the Early Career Psychology Domain from the Society for the Advancement of Psychotherapy (Division 29 – APA) and the speaker will be Dr. Melanie Wilcox, PhD.
The focus of this two-hour virtual presentation will be threefold. First, the larger context of economic realities in higher education and professional public service careers will be discussed, including the research on the student debt crisis, its economic determinants, and its effects. Second, Dr. Wilcox will discuss the importance of engaging in policy advocacy in the service of addressing these systemic and structural problems. Third, given this context, Dr. Wilcox will discuss important early career financial considerations such as pathways to student loan debt forgiveness, including the strengths and limitations of certain programs; salary, fringe, and start- up negotiation; and otherwise striving to earn what you deserve.
This event is taking place on Friday, September 9, 2022 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm (EDT) via Zoom!
** Attendees also do not need to be members of Division 29. This event is free for all!**
