Elizabeth Nutt Williams is a Professor of Psychology at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, The National Public Honors College, where she has served as Chair of the Psychology Department, Faculty Senate President, and Dean of the Core Curriculum. She received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Stanford University and her doctorate in Counseling Psychology from the University of Maryland. She is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association (APA) (Divisions 2, 17, 29, and 35) and has served in multiple governance roles for the Society for the Advancement of Psychotherapy (Division 29), including as president of the Division in 2011 and as Council Representative currently and from 2017 to 2019. Dr. Williams is a psychotherapy researcher who focuses on process research, feminist multicultural approaches, and qualitative and mixed method designs. She received the Jack D. Krasner Early Career Award from Division 29 and the Outstanding Early Career Achievement Award from the Society for Psychotherapy Research in 2006 and the Norton T. Dodge Award for Scholarly and Creative Achievement from St. Mary’s College of Maryland in 2021. Dr. Williams has also served on several editorial boards, including Division 29's Psychotherapy.
